Schools are where the next generation can learn how to create green and sustainable places to live and work; both locally and globally. The urgent issue of climate change is where schools can lead by example. Greening both new and existing schools can improve indoor air quality, save money and reduce greenhouse emissions. The Eco Schools programme is a great way to get your school to green up!
We have developed an Environmental Toolkit for Schools to help you identify ways in which your school can improve its environmental performance, and also how you can engage staff, students, and parents. The toolkit covers a range of topics including energy efficiency, transport, and sustainable procurement. At the end of each topic there’s curriculum based activity ideas, case studies, additional resources, and a short checklist for you to complete.
Schools needing support can take advantage of free consultancy provided through the Carbon Charter.
Schools can sign up for the Climate Action Countdown, a month of activities designed to help students and teachers reduce their Carbon Emissions. You can find out more here.
