Communities throughout the country are see growing interest in individuals wanting to do their part to improve their local environment whether this is generating renewable energy, cycling to work or school, composting, recycling, or growing fruit and veg. Suffolk is no different.
There are lots of active environmental groups in Suffolk who are undertaking inspiring projects in their communities, a few examples of groups include:
- Bury Water Meadows Group
- Felixstowe’s Community Nature Reserve
- Green Energy Nayland
- Greener Peasenhall and Sibton
- Greener Sax
- Lowestoft Fork to Fork
- Risby – A Wildlife Friendly Village
- The Oak Tree Low Carbon Farm
- Transition Woodbridge
If you’ve been inspired to start your own environmental group, or for information on how to take your group to the next level, we have created this handy Community Environmental Groups Guide with advice and case studies to help get you started.
Have a look at the links below for our two networking initiatives. They have been designed to help likeminded community groups to share news and ideas, events, and projects as well as network. Full of events and ideas, they’re a great space to collaborate.
- The Creating the Greenest County Community Network Facebook (private) page. Join here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/greenestcountycommunitynetwork/
- The second is the Community Network which is a platform for connecting community groups working towards carbon net zero and environmental/eco initiatives. The community network has a newsletter sent via email every other month which aims to update, network, showcase, and share events such as the thermal imaging camera project. Here is the consent form for the database so we know what you are involved in and what projects you might be considering in the future: https://forms.office.com/r/gh315GyqBT.
